This website is a part of a professional development project by teachers at Woodland Elementary for Inquiry Based Science Learning in Kindergarten and Grade 5.

About us Susan Barron graduated from Memorial University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Education Primary. She married in 1995 and has since had 2 children. Susan started her teaching career at Whitbourne Elementary, where she taught grade 5 and Kindergarten. She completed her M. Ed. in 2010 and is currently teaching Kindergarten at Woodland Elementary. Elizabeth Drover completed her B.A. degree in 1997 with a major in English and a minor in Biology followed by a B.Ed degree in 1998. She married in 1999 and has since had 3 children. Elizabeth is currently teaching Kindergarten at Woodland Elementary in Dildo, Trinity Bay. She has been teaching for about 17 years. Her hobbies include hiking, drama, and camping. This is her second STEM project with Teachers in Action.. Angela Norman completed her B.Ed. Prim/Elem ( with Science and Physical Education) at Memorial University in 2004 and her MEd in curriculum studies in 2014. She married in 2010 and has two children; Jack, age 5,and Elizabeth, age 2. Thus far in her teaching career she has years taught grades K- 12 in Physical Education and grades 3-6 curriculum in both single stream and multi-age classrooms. She is currently working at Woodland Elementary, teaching grade 5 Mathematics, Science, Health and Art and K-6 PE. This is her second year involved with a TIA project. Melanie Pinsent graduated from Memorial University in 2003 with a B. Ed. (Prim/Elem) with a concentration in Science. She completed her teaching internship at Memorial's campus in Harlow, England, and has had a love of travel ever since. Mrs. Pinsent went on to receive a B. Sp. Ed. from Memorial in 2006 and an M.Ed in 2013. She has been at Woodland since 2008, in a variety of classroom teaching assignments and is currently an Instructional Resource Teacher for Kindergarten to Grade 2. This is her third time completing a STEM project with TIA at Memorial University. Mrs. Pinsent also spent two years growing classroom gardens through Agriculture in The Classroom's Little Green Thumbs program. She loves to Plant, Grow, Eat, and Share. |
About our school
We teach at Woodland Elementary in the community of Dildo, Newfoundland and Labrador. Located in scenic Trinity Bay, we are a small school with about 180 students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. |
